About the position

The HR manager is an HR specialist position with the responsibility to prepare and execute on HR processes for Nel ASA (Nel’s headquarters) as well as support the CHRO in establishing governance across Nel and actively contribute to specific activities and projects across Nel.

The HR manager / specialist reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO).

The role is based in Oslo and will work closely with the rest of the HR function in the divisions.


The HR manager / specialist overall responsibility includes:

  • Support, advise and execute on Nel’s HR policies and procedures
    • Develop and maintain Personnel handbook
    • Contribute to development of governance with CHRO and HR community (policies, procedures)
  • Coordinate with other functions in Nel ASA or in the Divisions providing support on HR topics;
    • Incl. Compensation and benefits (Pension, Insurance, …), salary reviews, …
    • GDPR
  • Develop our People Data foundation and analytics
  • Responsible for the practical HR / personnel management for Nel ASA employees
    • Incl. People data for Nel ASA
  • Ensure effective recruitment in Nel ASA
  • Support other strategic initiatives depending on capacity
    • Implementation of HR system
  • Everyday project management on active projects
  • Actively represent Nel internally and externally in accordance with Nel Business System.

Desired personal experience and qualifications

  • Master in HR or equivalent with excellent results
  • 4-7 years experience in HR from a large industrial group, experience from consulting is a plus
  • Practical and solid experience in the different HR processes, especially Comp & Ben, core HR data management and GDPR

Desired personal skills

  • Fluent in English and Norwegian, with proficiency in writing and verbal communication
  • Excellent analytical skills in Excel
  • Structured and well organized
  • Documented experience in project management
  • Good experience in structuring and presenting (Powerpoint, Word)
  • Self-driven and working independently with coaching
  • Good relationship and communication skills, good collaboration skills
  • Agile and flexible incl. ability to quickly adapt in / to different cultures
  • Result orientation and a drive to continually deliver more and better
  • Thrives working in matrix organization environment and across different cultures
  • Deep understanding of what confidentiality and data privacy require
